Hey everyone. I have a 2020 rx 350.. Wished I could say its been great.. but 3 sets of front rotors.. thermostat replacement.. (those were under the certified warranty). the car has 55k miles.. garage kept and no hard driving.. we do live around mtns.. a small amount of descent (thats where the vibrations came into play)..
THANKFULLY all that was replaced under warranty.. a month ago we noticed the air conditioner wasnt cooling.. took it to dealership where it was purchased. about a month of warranty of course.. they charged around 180 to look at it.. confirmed, zero freon... they did a recharge w dye.. fast forward a few weeks later, they check it out.. said I need a new ac condenser.. they advised a pinhole possibly from a rock.. no true confirmation.. I was out when I got this call.. I of course told them I would decide later to move forward.. when I got to the dealership to pick it up, I asked to see the location of the apparent rock strike.. they said they didnt have any racks to show me the location.. seemed kinda odd to be looking at a 1200$ bill and not truly know whats up.. I take the vehicle home, get a UV and check it out my self.. I didnt see any dye on the condenser but I did notice some around a tube behind the top of the engine
.. has anyone dealt with this before.. the ole its a rock hit and just deal with it?
Idk what it is about dealers "fixing" issues and taking your money, but not actually fixing the issue? This isn't a YOU problem, it's a THEM problem. I'd run right back to that shop and raise all hell to have them cover any additional costs/diag/parts because they said XYZ and they didn't deliver. It's actually fraud and you should sue them. AC leak issues are very common, and any decent shop should not charge you without actually diagnosing the issue correctly. Freon sniffers exist and can be used, in combination with UV dye, to find the source of the leak and repair. O-rings to fail, condensers do get rocks thrown at them, evap blocks can leak... but for your to have continuing issues after a repair that you got charged for is BS.
You need to find an independent shop with a great reputation to get a second opinion. There is no reason to use the dealer (stealer) for service once out of warranty. The service writers work on commission, many techs are inexperienced etc. Use Yelp and Google to hunt around for well-regarded local car repair shops. You can also try the regional forums here at Club Lexus to maybe find a shop recommendation in your area. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/loc...al-forums-156/
3 sets of brake pads within 55k miles? Damn. Mines started to vibrate at 20k miles. Your best bet is go with warramty pads and rotors from Autozone. Get the Duralast Elite pads with Duralast Gold Rotors.
