Got rear ended need some advice
In this case you have no insurance at all. You have an institution lending you $2000 as a short term loan and collecting their money back with interest. If the other insurance company pays your company for the damage, I would be surprised if any of that money would go to you unless as a result, your rates would not be increased.
My point was that in general you should be careful in making any claim that your insurance may have to contribute to. With car repair costs so high it often makes sense to increase your deductible and just eat small claims.
Just trying to help out others before they make the same mistake.
Obviously if the other driver is at fault, let their insurance pay for it.....that is IF they have insurance. Again, my wife previously was hit by a 20 year old with no license, no insurance. Fun.
The accident was her fault so we understand that the premiums would increase.

I called USAA yesterday and spoke with a very knowledgeable employee for at least 30 minutes. I asked whether my rate could go up after making a comprehensive claim and she "yes" it depends on how many comprehensive claims have been made, I was surprised. You made a comprehensive claim on your wife's Mercedes and you had a rate adjustment (aka rate hike) late last year. I never noticed, how much was it? and she said $7 and I asked per month and she said no, every 6 months.
Per year, that's less than the cheapest glass of white wine at. a decent restaurant, $12+tip. No wonder why I didn't notice the adjustment.
