Default Left side light issues

I purchased a 2014 RX 350 base with comfort, premium, speaker, towing, navigation and a few other packages with 75,000 miles on it. The car is in excellent condition. My second Lexus, after the 2007 ES which I still have with 107,000 miles on it.

However the following are not working:

1. Courtesy light on driver door.
2. Driver door sensor switch - doesn’t show door open & interior lights don’t turn on when the door is opened.

checked the wiring and the door light bulb is functional. No disconnect or loose wire that I see (haven’t opened the door panel).

All other door switches and mirror functions work.

What could be wrong? Could it be a fuse and if so which fuse? Did not find a specific fuse related to these functions in the owner manual.

Thank you!

It appears you probably need a new drivers door sensor. First try spraying the switch with some electrical contact cleaner, or even WD40 or brake cleaner as the contacts may be dirty or stuck. If that does not work it should not be difficult to replace the switch.

Does yours look like this

Thank you so much, Clutchless! Spot on that this was a door sensor issue.

while the door sensor switch was there, it was missing a bolt. The switch completes the circuit when the retainer bolt connects the body of the switch to the cabin. I used a screwdriver to make that connection and it worked! That is what kept the door light from coming on as well. I feel so dumb LOL.

Off to Home Depot (or an auto store in case Home Depot does not have it) to find the right threaded bolt and it will be done.

Thanks to you, this was so simple.

Thank you so much!!

Well, oh well....While looking inside the center console, guess what I found? The original bolt that goes into the door sensor switch. LOL
