Good afternoon from California -- We currently have a 2006 RX330, which we love, and are planning to add a 3RX 450h in the Spring. Starting my research in advance...

In reviewing numerous threads here in both the 3RX and Hybrid 3RX forums, I came across a single opinion that the 2010 should be avoided and the 2011 or later is much better. It was a brief statement, however, with no detail, and I couldn't tell whether it was even 450h-specific.

Any concrete insights into specifically what makes the 2011 preferable to the 2010? Is it just that the 2010 was the first year of a new model generation, or something more specific? Are all 2011 RX's significantly better than 2010 ones, or is that really only applicable to the 450h?

Thanks in advance. I'm aiming for a 2013, but the number of very affordable 2010's available in my area is overwhelming.

 

The worst thing about the 2010 is that there is no 12 volt charging port aside from the one buried inside the center console. 2011 and later models have a visible charging port on the lower dash in the open space between the seats.
That may be enough reason to avoid 2010 models. Besides it is the first year of the redesign, although my 2010 RX350 has been trouble free aside from normal wear items.

 

Ah, okay, that explains the posts about adding another port. Sheesh -- even my 2006 has two up front and one in the far back. Thanks.
