Aftermarket plastic engine under cover / shield?
My engine under cover / shield broke off yesterday while highway driving. All screws still there, so it must have hit something and took one for the team. Actually, may have hit something weeks ago and yesterday I was doing 80 in a big x-wind and it finally said screw this guy and ripped to a ground-dragging state.
Anyway, it seems to be about $100 discounted if I go OEM. But aftermarket quite a bit less, such as this one for $35 or so. I even see a Toyota Highlander aftermarket product (same part#) for even less on eBay. So any experience going aftermarket with this kind of part?
The part is 51442-48040, though I’m seeing some things say it has been replaced by 51442-0E020.

Shield does not need to be OEM. Quality wise it may be better or worse. Check the warranty and who is providing the warranty.
The other thing to watch out would be the shipping cost as it has to be shipped flat. Some time buying from Local Lexus may end up the same cost or close enough cost. So price it out.

So just for posterity I’ll update. Ordered an aftermarket for $35 shipped. It’s fine maybe a little more pliable than the OEM. Unfortunately, I put the broken OEM in the recycling stream before receiving the aftermarket so can’t do a valid comparison.
I installed an aftermarket undertray on my 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R that was one-third the cost of what Subaru wanted for their OEM version. My factory undertray was cracked and missing pieces when I purchased the vehicle in early November 2015. I did some research, then ordered the aftermarket undertray online. It fit perfectly and is every bit as protective as the OEM undertray was.
