This is a good bit of information, that as long as the car is running and if the Key FOB disappears the car will continue to run, however when you shut it down and no key, no start.

Which is dumb, if you ask me. I left my TCH running several times in the city. Simply because you hear no engine noise and as noisy as city is, who pays attention to several warning beeps. Seriously.
Also, I was told by a new Prius owner, that this feature is fixed now. You can drive only yey far, then system shuts down.

Technically, the key interacts with starter ... starter is not engaged
Vehicle dying on you while driving has lot more worse consequences. In 450H, you hear the beep and also large waring sign comes on in display. And yes it did happen when my wife had the key and moved off to find a parking space.

Sure. That's when you do nothing else but to concentrate on display and beeps. You have two associates in the car, you are engaged in conversation, on a mission to do your job you drove to do, middle of noisy city - easy to miss beeps and such. I am not convinced, I still call it dumb. I am yet to see an owner who liked this feature. If it's really a "feature". With all them computers in those cars, no big deal to modulate "Please, turn off your vehicle" voice message. Our 86 leBaron did. 86. They can't NOW?

Haha, this indeed has happened to me as I walk off with the key and my wife is the driver!!! She is alert enough to honk the horn at me so I can turn around to give her the key.

You must not be married. Situations like this one are ALWAYS the wife's fault....

Boy, does technology has us covered now! I just said, honey, would you like a new car that doesn't have these problems?
Now both our cell phones are the keys and I can remotely open and start the vehicle from any part of the world for her.
And if I sprinted another $5K for the Auto Pilot, I could even summon the thing. These are cave-man issues you're dealing with!
So, Salim, neither yourself nor your wife are at fault. This will all solve itself with time.

Unless the key fob battery is dead. Which can happen. It's very unfortunate when it does.

Does not like door ding? Only way to avoid it 100% is park the car in your garage with car cover, LOL!
