Default Replacing Starter DIY with some pics

Symptoms: No start/ but you will have power to tail gate and accessories.
You may hear an audible click when you press the start button.
Remove the terminals on the battery
Remove the bracket holding the battery in place

At this point you may be able to remove the 2 14mm bolts holding the starter in place however I opted to remove the air box as well.
The air box is bolted in place by 2 bolts
Remove the 2 air box bolts, 2 vacuum hoses (you will see which ones) Maf sensor wire and another plug (not sure whats it for)

At this point you should have easy access to the rear bolt for the starter
Remove the power plug attached to the starter
Remove the 14mm (or 12mm ) nut holding wire harness on the starter
Remove the two14mm bolts and pull the starter out.
Cover the hole to avoid dirt from going in.

Take the starter to your local parts store (advance auto parts) who can bench test it.
When buying your new starter keep in mind there are 2 versions. North America (vin number starting with 2t2) or Japan (Jxxx)
Most of the parts guys do not ask but be sure you are getting the right part.
Carquest brand reman was about $131 with tax after core.

Reinstall the new starter. At first it looked as though mine was not going to fit. but I was able to use some gentle force and it went into place.
Make sure there is no gap in between.

Replace everything back in reverse order
Note: there is a hole that the airbox fits into. It should go back in place with ease.
Start the car
It may start for a second and shut off don't be alarmed.
Just start it again and you will be good to go
