Default lug nut specs

What are the exact specs on the lug nuts for a 2010 RX350 with the stock factory wheels?

is it 12X1.5 13/16 150"

bolt pattern 5-114.3

???

and are gorilla lug nuts they sold me at America tire/discount tire any good or should I have gone with OEM?

The oem has a casing on it whereas these gorilla lug nuts is one piece.

My oem were somewhat rusting so the technician recommended replacing them.

They should screw right on and fit. Ours are the same as for most Toyota/Lexus vehicles. However OEM is probably going to last longer.

There are lots of OEM ones on eBay for good prices https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...g+nut&_sacat=0

Look at this recent thread about lug nuts https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-lug-nuts.html

For my 14 RX the torque is 76 ft. pounds on wheels.

DO NOT OIL THE WHEEL STUD THREADS. If you oil the wheel threads then you cannot get an accurate torque reading.

lol you will get an accurate torque reading by oiling them. That’s the point. Do you think the studs were rusted when they manufactured them..? I think not!!!

His nuts are rusted, not his studs as they were covered by the nuts. There is a bad pun in there somewhere. Maybe a little anti-seize may not hurt.

103 Nm in metric as per owners manual. I loosened the lug nuts on my vehicle today and torqued them up to spec. Seemed a bit tight coming off, so they seemed to have been slightly over torqued by the tyre fitter when the tyres were replaced.

Interestingly, even though the lug nuts are identical to my 200 Series, the recommended torque setting for the LandCruiser is about 10% higher.

Lug nut swelling... Had service done at AAA car care center for tire replacement and they caused severe damage to my lug nuts by not having the torque wrench socket all the way on during use. I purchased new lug nuts from lexus no. 90084-94001 and the parts supervisor showed me that a lot of lexus/toyota lug nuts swell over time. Sure enough, my lexus factory roadside tire iron did not fit onto my 12 y.o. original lug nuts. The tire iron fits perfectly onto the new lug nuts. The parts supervisor said it is common for people to come in with this damage because shops are too lazy to upsize the impact wrench socket to a larger than factory size when swelling occurs. Apparently this is common across many car manufacturers.

Has anyone confirmed the factory size of the lug nuts? 90084-94001 does not seem to be 13/16". A brand new 13/16" impact deep socket will not fit. I have always used 21mm but no clue if this is technically correct. Impact sockets definitely have a tighter tolerance than chrome hand tools.

21mm is correct. 13/16 will work in a pinch.

Yep, 21mm. Never experienced swelling lug nuts. I do know about putting new ball joints in the freezer for a couple of days before installing them so they will shrink microscopically and therefore be somewhat easier to press into place.

I hope you required that lazy AAA Car Care Center to reimburse you for your new lug nuts -- I sure would. I use only hand tools on all of our lug nuts and require my local Discount Tire store to do the same. The manager there fully understands and has no problem with it.

Apparently this has to do with any lug nut that has the integrated cap over the nut. The integrated caps swell. I now see that someone documented the issue in a dedicated thread. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-lug-nuts.html. The scary thing is some of us might be driving around with this issue unknowingly. I would be very interested in how many folks lexus roadside tire iron fits onto all lug nuts. Mine were so bad on my '10 that I could not physically change a single tire in emergency scenario.

Just had my wheels off a week ago, so can confirm they're 21mm. My nuts weren't swollen, and had no need to put my ball joints in the freezer.

My chrome 21mm hand tool socket always fit on my lug nuts. But the factory coated lexus roadside tire iron and 21mm impact socket did not fit right. I think the lexus roadside tire iron and some impact sockets (especially the black dusty ones) are less precise and have tighter tolerance than chrome hand tools.
