Engine clicking at startup
Hello All!
Well, my father's 2010 RX350 has developed a cold "clicking/rattling" noise at start up. It lasts for about 1-2 seconds. It reminds of when my brother 2008 RAV4 did this. The RAV was under warranty and Toyota did a TSB on it. That engine was a 4 cylinder. Cost: $0. Same can't be said on the RX. It has about 60K miles. I'm reluctant to take it to Lexus (of LV). I want to say the engine has a 100K warranty, but I'd have to call them to make sure. In any event, does/did anyone have the same issue?
Not my video, but noise is the same:
Found this and wasn't amused: Good read actually.
Thanks for any response and insight to this.

Doing some research, this also affects other Toyota 3.5 V6s. I don't think it causes damage to the engine, but most certainly is undesirable. Then again, b/c these engine require 0W-20 (synthetic), the oil should offer enough protection. Still, I'm bothered by it.
Turns out our particular vehicle is out of warranty. I never got the TSB so I can price it out at a Toyota dealership. I'll try that route.

Just to keep this thread relevant: I took my RX to the Toyota dealer and mentioned that the Highlander had the same issue. Service manager told me they wouldn't do it b/c it is a Lexus. They don't want to be held responsible if the motor blows up after they do the Highlander TSB (I haven't found any TSB on the RX). It is for legal reasons, I understand: Toyota corporate rules. As far as the Lexus dealer: They won't and haven't heard of such an issue. I'm beginning to thing they are incompetent. First it was them insisting on the transmission NOT be serviceable (we all know that is BS) and now this. Very disappointed since the dealer is a "Lexus Elite" dealer.
If I learn of anything new, I'll report back. If anyone has something relevant to share, please do so! Thanks!
