transmission fluid flushed @ my local Toyota dealer
had this done on friday @ my toyota dealer. (don't know what i was typing up there). ^^ definitely worth every penny to have it done. there was beginning to be a very slight delay between drive and engaging into reverse. now that is gone and it shifts to reverse nice and firm. shift quality was fine before, but it is slightly better now. they said the fluid was dirty, not black or terrible. but dirty. so for lexus to say don't do anything until 90K? yeah....right. and then they only do a spill and fill which only gets out like 2.5-3 qts. i say if you want to get the longest life, durability and performance out of your transmission.. definitely have this done every 30k.

$314.00 and worth every penny. i was going to drain and fill myself. but that only gets out around 2.5-3 quarts. and the getting it to the right temperature part to check the fluid level is no fun either.

I called my Lexus dealer this morning and they quoted me $184.00. Hmm when should I bring it in? I'm nearing 52k on the odometer now.

1. $314 seems too steep.
2. Not sure I'd change the viscosity of your tranny that suddenly. Transmission is different than engines. When your old fluid get old it actually changes the viscosity just a bit.
Then, suddenly you introduce new fluids that has different viscosity (since new fluid is back to original spec) you get this sudden behavior change.
I'm not doing a great job explaining it. you can search for it in the gen 1 RX forums. There are many instances of transmission going south after doing the flush. This is of course compounded by ignoring regular drain and fill for something like 90k miles.
