Default Lexus Battery question

Battery died. I see Lexus dealership has a deal for a genuine Lexus battery. But there is no spec available.
Does anyone know if it is good?

I would go buy at Autozone, but I am afraid they won't be able to install it.

And the car is under warranty (recently bought certified) - should I go with the dealership battery to be safe?

If the car is under warranty, the dealer should replace the battery for free. If you can't drive the car, they should bring the battery to you and install it, all covered by the Lexus warranty.

I doubt the battery is a warranty item. Also, I don't know why the local stores would not install the battery. I just had my battery in a 2015 replaced with no issue.

If the vehicle is still under the standard factory warranty of 4 years / 50,000 miles, then a failed (or failing) battery should be replaced under that warranty. These factory batteries seem to be somewhat mediocre.

It appears the stock battery is size 24F with 630CCA. I replaced with Autocraft GOLD 3 yr free replacement 750CCA and paid $129.99 net after discount and core credit. Original battery lasted exactly 6 yrs from original in-service date. I tipped the guy at the local store to install using OBD memory saver device.
Local Lexus dealer wanted $250/installed, I came out @ $150.

Costco Canada now has Kirkland AGM 24F at C$179. I still have the original on my 2011 with 216K KM (135K miles) but I'll replace it with the AGM maybe in the fall on the car's eighth ninth year of manufacturing date (Made in Japan on Sep 2010).

I haven’t had good luck with AGM’s. They require a higher charging voltage than non AGM. Installed one in our Venza and it would not stay charged 100%. Replaced under warranty and same thing is happening to this one. Completeky checked the whole charging sytem and it is fine. Finally realized the Charge voltage is 13.7 which isn’t quite enough. Will try a mod to the voltage sense circuit to increase voltage about .5 v.

Battery is made by Panasonic. Panasonic should take care of it.

What is the logic installing in a charging system not designed to work with AGM battery?

Default Change battery

OK, the battery in my wife's 2015 RX is going in spite of what the dealer says. I don't have a problem with the mechanics of replacing it but wondered what has to be reset after the change? It has Navigation if that matters.

If I knew about this charging problem before I bought a new battery I would not have installed an AGM battery.
I’ve now added a diode to the ALT-s circuit (this circuit is wired through the fuse block to provide a battery voltage reference to the alternator voltage regulator). The dropped the voltage signal and it nowcharges at 14.3-14.4 vdc.

Nothing should need to be reset after a simple battery swap. Well, maybe the clock...

Our 2013 RX 350 has had a dead battery several times in its life. It's had it rough in the early years in the cold of Alberta, and for sitting for some months in storage while the family was out of town for some extended trips abroad.

But last winter here in the lower mainland of British Columbia, after being in a minor wreck, the car sat for about 1 month in the mild BC winter while we were waiting on insurance shenanigans (long story, not important) The battery died on us. We got a replacement under warranty, but it has left me quite anxious about this battery dying on me again. I replaced the battery myself, and while it wasn't the hardest thing to do, it wasn't fun lugging that heavy thing around town, and not something I am interested in doing again.

The family was on vacation for a 2-week trip in January (last month), and we were super anxious the whole time if the car would start. I'd like to deal with my anxiety by tooling up and being prepared. I'm acquiring a multimeter so I can stay on top of the charge, but I'm also wondering: should I invest in a trickle charger? Is that something a typical car owner would do, if they know that sometimes their vehicle won't be used for long'ish periods in winter?

A trickle charger is indeed a good idea for modern vehicles that sit unused for long periods of time. CTEK is a brand that is well-respected here in the U.S.

In my 2010 the original battery was replaced in 2015 with an autozone battery. I just now replaced that battery with a new gold battery from Advance Auto. The 2015 battery wasnt showing as Bad yet but the CCA's were low and i didnt want to risk going through the rest of winter with it. Usually you can use a 20-25% off coupon code and order the battery online and do it as instore pickup and let them do the install. It was maybe $130.
