Mine works great. You need to be sure that the position is set correctly or you won't see it properly.

Dear litzdog911,
The position is correcttly, cause sometime it is light as usual.

I've not had any problem with the brightness of my HUD. Mine is not set to maximum brightness.

I do find if I travel into the sun or through the desert on a clear sunny day, the HUD is very dim with all the glare, but I expect that. I also played with the position of the display and brightness for several weeks after I first got my RX450h, but have not changed or touched it now in more than 1.5 years. To litzdog911's point, I also found if I had the HUD display set too high or too low, it wasn't as visible to me. IIRC, mine is set somewhere just below the midway point so that I can still clearly see the HUD display on the trunk or rear bumper of cars stopped or relatively close in front of me on the road. I found it wasn't as visible for some reason -- or at least didn't get my attention as much -- if the HUD display was higher and tended to project over the rear-view window of the car in front of me -- likely because of the additional glare that situation caused.

Anyway, try first setting your HUD to maximum brightness, then changing the position of your display up and down to get the best place you can. At that point, adjust the HUD brightness down at night so the HUD does not become a distraction for you, then the next morning, see if the setting is still acceptable during the daylight hours. You'll have to tweak that just a bit, but it's how I went about getting my setting to something that works for me.

Good luck.

I can’t turn the HUD display on. I took it to a dealer for the regular 35k maintenance and when I got home I noticed the HUD was not working

This is a wild shot...but maybe...

I have a 2003 Buick with HUD. When the headlights are set to "auto," the lights come on at dusk and the HUD dims automatically.

I had a problem where the dusk sensor was bad; and the HUD automatically dimmed during the day & could not be seen (daytime). Manually turning on the headlights during the day would have the same effect.

So...maybe...do you have your headlights set to "ON" instead of auto..?

I do not have HUD in my RX, so I am not sure if the dimming of the HUD occurs when the headlights switch on.
