30k Service Booked!
So, my car is turning 3 this year so going to be having the 30k service done on the 27th of May!
Im on the 3 year service plan so the car will be getting a service, full valet inside and out (the guys at my dealer treat every car like its their own, very careful chaps and never had any scratches on my car from them, Id know as I detail my car!)
Its going for 2 days and i'll be getting an IS300h to drive around so will post my views on that too as well as the general service! I think some things will need changing such as the wipers but ill utilize my 10% service plan discount!!
Ill keep you posted!

Great your getting good service from your dealer. I do too from the local & only dealer in NB.
Last year her car was in for about a week on a warranty issue.
They gave her a new ES350 to drive.
Sneaky devils..........she didn't want to give it up.
I had to intervene & make sure the RX came home at the end of the day.

Yeah the service will take 2 hours, I'm getting an MOT done too. Every car 3 years or older has to get an MOT done, basically a safety check which goes onto a central government database. No MOT means no insurance and a hefty fine + sentence.
Im getting a full valet done too so that'll take a while to dry the interior
Oh and I should mention they were going to give me an RCF :P. I've test driven it already and knew I'd be tempted so asked for an IS300h which I intend on buying this year for the wife

I guess I got stuck on what an "RCF :P" was. But now that I put my mind to it, an RCF must be a car; and a :P must be a symbol that didn't convert on my original iPad.
I enjoyed a nice weeklong visit of your beautiful country two years ago (a graduation). Stayed in London. Never saw so many luxury cars as I did while there. Sat near the street and enjoyed a grand parade of them. Never saw a place to refuel, nor a car wash. Enjoyed how nobody observed any semblance of a speed limit, and yet saw no accidents. Race away from the light; and nearly skid to a stop at the next - with no "road rage". I wish the U.S. drivers could learn something about how to get along from your drivers (our drivers are light years ahead of what I see of Russian drivers - at least those I entertain myself with on YouTube).
Best to you,

My 2013 RX 450h is due for oil change ~32k miles. I looked at details of the official 30k service and wonder if it is really needed. Brake fluid change? Really?
Brakes are fine, and filters i do myself. They can do tire rotation however.
I owned 4runners before this and rarely did anything but oil and filters, and brakes when needed.
Thoughts on the recommended 30k service?

Just did the had the 30K service done at Toyota. The service advisor pulled out the recommended sheet for around $500.00. I told him the engine air filter and cabin air filter had already been changed and he didn't blink or lower the price so I had the oil and oil filter changed and tires rotated for less than $90.00.

Brake fluid absorbs water over time and then begins to corrode your brake system from the inside. While they may still work great, you do not want to have to replace a $2000 brake actuator because you failed to change the brake fluid every 2 or 3 years as recommended by Toyota/Lexus. It only costs $100 - $120 and you can have any independent shop do it for (usually) less than the dealer. Fresh fluid also has a higher boiling point and will handle heat better.
Think of it as a long term investment like painting your house every few years to prevent the wood from rotting.
