Default AC fill with a kit

I have a 2013 rx350. Is it possible to recharge the AC
with a can and hose kit? I had a computer check out my code errors and I
have AC issues. This truck is a rebuild and has been sitting for a long time. Sure enough no cold
air coming out.

If all that's wrong is a slow leak of freon, you can get by. It's about $30 for one can with reusable hose/gauge as a SHORT TERM fix as it don't purge the air from the system. You can probably get the whole AC system diagnosed for $40. But not really knowing what the problems are, you really would be smarter to pay for the diagnostic first. I've been through this years ago, you'll be better in the long run.

+1 on diagnosis. In my previous car, 1998 Toyota Sienna, AC issue was due to an o-ring that failed. I think it cost me about $300 to diagnose, replace the $2 broken part, refill, and test. I was cool after that.:-)

Pretty early for a 2013 to need a recharge ... probably best to take it in and see what is wrong. I had a SC300 that I did not drive much and it took about 12 years or so before it needed a recharge. I took it to a local shop and the bill was really low.

OP mentioned the car is a rebuild, so it was probably involved in an accident and there is a leak in the system that wasn't fixed... had to be pretty substantial of a hit to write off such a new car...

I would get it leak tested, fix it before trying to put a band aid on it... $30 AC cans add up if you are putting them in every week...
