Also about Nissan, one time the car rental company ran out of cars so they gave me the huge Nissan Armada. I was blown away by the suspension: it went over bumps and dips so smoothly. Well, but the Armada otherwise comes with a lot of rattles and wind noise.

I purchased a 2013 used Lexus Certified RX this August and could not be happier with the ride. I came out of a 2015 Mazda CX-5 AWD. While I enjoyed driving the Mazda, it almost broke this 68 yr old back! In fact the main reason for selling CX-5 was the quality of the RX ride! I really need an AWD where I live, and had never owned a Lexus before. I was immediately taken with the plush ride and luxurious cabin appointments of the RX. The Mazda was quite nice for that type of sports SUV...Handling was superb, but at my age, comfort was the over riding feature. of course, handling suffers on the RX but something has to give I guess.

Mine is 2013 RX350 with 19". I replaced with Bridgestone Ecopia tires at 25K miles and the ride is smoother and a bit less choppy on lousy Bay Area roads. Now the car has 44K miles and the tire wear and ride seems ok. Comfort wise is definitely better than OEM Michelin and Dunlop.

However I do agree that Lexus did a lousy suspension tuning on RX350. RX450H with ~200 lbs heavier in the back (battery) rides a lot nicer than RX350. I suspect Lexus/Toyota just cut corner to tune suspension just for the top of the line RX450H model and reuse it on all versions.

I've run Bridgestones several times before, and had more than one tire dealer tell me they are the "roundest" of all tires on the market... at least that was the report I heard as recent as 5-7 years ago. They rode superbly on both my old '76 Jeep Cherokee Chief Widetrack (31/10.50 x 15) and my current 3/4 ton Ford diesel (285/75 x 16). They also stuck to the road like they had glue on the treads. My biggest problem was that they were just soft enough to have much shorter tread life than I could justify for their cost. That was when I switched over to the Michelin family, and they have been long-living and well-performing tires for me on multiple vehicles.

That said, the UTQG value on those B-stones you chose is pretty good, and that's generally a good indicator of tread life. I'll have to keep them in mind as I approach the need for a new set in the next several years.

This week I complained to the dealer that my wife's 2010' RX350 have a stiff ride and I can feel every road inperfection. They checked and find both right rear shock and right front strut are leaked out. 3rd party warranty doesn't cover struts & shocks, so I have to pay myself.

Is shock and strut the same?
Why front shock cost way more than the rear shock (front $180, rear $50)?
Why the labor to replace the front shock is way more than rear one(front $282 vs rear $122)?
anytime you replace shocks, do you need to do wheel alignment?

After the fix, the car rides better and at least my neck doesn't feel stiff anymore. The dealer pick me up with the 2016 RX350, I feel the 4th gen ride is a little more(not much) stable and forgiven. The ride in my 2011 LS460 (wthout air suspension) is way more stable and comfortable than the RX.

Shocks are quite different than a strut, attached is a general comparison.
Replacing a rear shock is a very easy process. Remove the wheel to access 2 bolts & it comes out very easily.
Replacing the strut requires some front suspension disassembly.Depending on budget you can buy them pre-loaded with a new coil spring or buy them bare & put your old spring on the new assembly.
Alignments are always required when changing struts as the geometry of the front end will change.

I have a 2011 RX350 that rides very hard in the rear. Especially in cold weather (below 40). I have found Three things that really helped it.
1) Set the tires to 32 psi as it says on the door sill sticker.
2) Goodyear Assurance Comfort Tread Tires.
3) Monroe Shocks for the rear. They just came out with these shocks for the RX to help improve the hard ride. They are Monroe oespectrum Shocks Part number 37361 made to remove harshness from the ride.
The shocks and tire pressure made the biggest difference.

I did these three changes to mine and it rides much better, Especially in cold weather. I live in Michigan

Great feedback. I've changed mine using the OEM Toyota product, about 2 years ago. Rides a little harsh by design but not unacceptable. We drove the Rogue & the Edge prior to purchase & they were far worse at the time.
Pet peeve I have, however, is the rear seat rattle. Can't get rid of it. Don't know if a softer shock would help or not ?

I had new shocks and struts of that Japanese brand and tires rotated ,tires were just starting to scallop some-put 30 psi in tires -now have a vast improvement in ride and noise. I have bought "noico " butyl 80mill sound deadening and will try to insll some soon. Anybody here done this? Like some advice if possible. Thanks. george
