Default Navigation and phone book?

The phone book on my phone contains lots of numbers and addresses. Once I have transferred the phone book to the car, can I use the a phone book entry as a destination and get guidance to the address?

(I have looked at eDestination and find it excessively clumsy to use and apparently lacking any import/export capabilities.)

I have used eDestination, created multiple folders on my computer (e.g. Hotel/Motels, Restaurants, Shopping etc.), uploaded to their Server, then Downloaded to the car. However, I understand that this service is free for only one year, so you are better off transferring from your phone. (Most of my phone contacts do not contain an address).

So how do we access the addresses in the phonebook for navigation?

Must be a function of the 2014 if Cheryl is doing it, because the 2010-2012 doesn't do it

Now I have downloaded address to navigation to get the phone number or
had direction assistance folks send address that includes useable phone number

I've not seen the phonebook generate "clickable addresses" for navigation purposes.

I talked with the local Lexus tech specialist today. The answer is that there is no connection between navigation and phonebook (in my RX 450h).

Just use Siri on your brand new "iPhone 5s".

Siri and iPhone navigation don't currently appear on the RX's nav screen (at least as was demonstrated to me last week). That means that while you can listen to Siri give directions, you cannot see the map without looking at the iPhone.

At least that was the demo that I saw from the technology specialist.

Is that not correct?

Correct. OS7.1 is due for release mid March. According to apple insiders that release will have iOS in the car. iOS in the car will mirror the phone display on the Lexus screen. I am hoping that it works with 3rd party apps such as Spotify and Beats music service.

Mirroring the phone's display on the screen would be a compelling feature. But could it do that with the existing software and hardware connections in the 2014 RX?

Yes, in fact, I looked into that right after I posted the above and I couldn't be happier with that solution. The funny thing is that I never really used Siri on my iPhone, but in the car it's a brilliant solution. I am even more impressed by Siri's ability to understand Hawaiian street names (believe me, that is not an easy feat for any voice recognition system).

That is correct, but you can use the built-in navi map for orientation while taking the voice commands from the phone. Hopefully, with iOS 7.1 this will all be seamless and we get the maps from the iPhone as well. I wish I could get Waze though, but I'll take Apple's solution too.
