I am thinking about looking for a newer (than my 2004) Rx. What model year started to included iPod connectivity (instead of a cassette deck!!) as a standard feature?
From what I see, they truly didn't integrate USB in the car until 2010 (completely unbelievable). I've never understood why Lexus seems behind the curve on some things.
I think they had an iPod Connectivity Kit starting in 2008 (but I think that is an accessory add-on and not in all RX's). So best bet would be to start looking at 2010. AND....welcome to Club Lexus! Very helpful people here (I'm still new, but have learned a ton). Make sure and post pics of your new-to-you RX when/if you decide on something. I finally (after 2 months of looking) ordered a new one. Now I have to wait at least 3 months before it gets here.
Yes, the 3rd gen beginning with the 2010 model year includes a USB port. I was also in the same boat coming from an '04, the only 2nd gen RX without bluetooth I had a VAIS unit installed so I could at least listen to the iPod. There's so many more goodies on '10+ RXs as well. And no more cassette deck!
Anita, I missed the cassette deck as well but now I just have some dusty old cassette's stored in the garage . I've truly gotten used to digital media (iPod for me) and it integrates so well I imagine it will be a while before something replaces it . No more tapes hung in the machine either .
