Might be a silly question. When you do your own maintenance how do you update like a carfax report? Great tip on the cost.

cn2004, maintenance can be added manually to the Lexus owners' website. It'll show up when records are retrieved. Just make sure you save all receipts in case there's an issue. I did this when I changed tires and had an alignment done outside of the dealership last year. Couldn't be easier. Oh, it asks for mileage too.

AHH didn't know that. I thought only Lexus could add those records. Major price difference with the cost at the dealership. What about the in between service 35k, 45k. What do you do for those intervals?

kitlz 07-29-13 10:23 AM

35K and 45K are minor services and usually cost me less than $100 at the dealership. Though the last one (25K) was free :)

Aside of the more major services which are at the 30k intervals, you can pretty much do everything else yourself. Its basically just oil changes, tire rotations, key fob battery replacements, and a few filters. These things practically maintain themselves.

Here are all the items for 60k service. The only ones I can't do are bolded. My dealership does brake flush for $125. Does anyone know what the price range for the re-torqueing for the drive shaft is?

❏Replace engine oil with 0W-20 oil; replace oil filter
❏Re-torque nuts and bolts of drive shaft (RX 350 AWD)
❏Replace air conditioner filter
❏Replace brake fluid
❏Replace engine air filter
❏Replace Smart Key battery
❏Reset maintenance reminder light
❏Rotate tires
❏Tighten axle shaft bolts (RX 450h AWD)
❏Visually inspect brake pads, calipers
and rotors
❏Check installation of driver’s floor mat
❏Road-test vehicle
