They're budget tyres - dont know if I would trust them

Over here they cost £77 with the Michelin's costing £124. Its not much of a difference really so Id go with Michelin or another good brand every time.

 

My tyres arrived today!! Michelin Latitude Tour HP, made in Italy with a DOT number of 2514! Pretty pleased with them! Got to have them fitted now!

 

Now that we've put about 5,000 miles on the new tires, I'm happy to report that we're very happy with our decision to purchase these Hankooks. Having driven them in heavy rain and deep snow, they're very stable in addition to being super smooth and quiet. These are a true comparable replacement to a Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, etc.

 

I had a set on my previous (non Lexus) SUV. I found the tires to be much better than the stock Bridgestones that came with that car. Overall I was happy with the performance, tread life and road noise.

 

I got new wheels and tires for my F sport....went with Pirelli scorpion verde all season plus, 245/55R19. H rated instead of V. Boy what a difference in the ability to absorb the larger road impacts. With the Michelins, there were specific areas in my commute where I would literally cringe when I would have to go over them. Now, the impact is significantly muted. This is what I was hoping for, and reasoned that the combo of an H rated tire, which rides a bit softer and the slightly taller sidewall would do the trick....it has. And because it is wider than before, and pushed out a bit, it still handles superbly. I should have done this two years ago!

 

I just got Scorpion Verdes installed on my vehicle and I have a question: these tires are directional, are they not? I see that the two tires on the right side of my RX are installed with what appears to be three 'arrows' facing forward, whereas the left side tires are the opposite. They appear to be going backward. Am I correct, they should all be facing forward should they not?

 

The Scorpion Verde has "outer" on the sidewall. Solved.

 

The arrows on directional tires should always point in the direction the tire will turn when going forward. CCW on the driver side, CW on the passenger side.

 

Lexus dealer fitting Michelin Latitude Tour HP's all round tomorrow. Will see how they compare to the OEM Dunlop SP Sport 270's

 

I can tell you from experience of the original set OEM plus 2nd set same tires, you're going to like those tires. Handling is excellent considering the car they're on, wear should be 35,000 plus miles and gas mileage is good. Use the pressure listed inside the door frame for best overall wear and handling.

 

It looks funny quoting myself from Feb, but whatever.
Update! My OEM Michelins (2011) will have to be replaced even sooner as one of them decided to slightly delaminate.

EDIT: I'm planning on putting high performance, Summer Only tires on for replacements and possibly expanding size search to include 255/50/19 but all I'm seeing in this thread is comparing the typical SUV choices.
Has anyone else put ultra sticky summers on?
(I use Blizzaks in winter and put them on/off in a suitable time for the shoulder seasons. This ain't my first rodeo. We get extreme snow and cold in northern Alberta).

Tire Rack lists both H and V rated tires for sale for the RX.

H rated are rated up to 130 MPH
V rated 149 MPH

Anyone plan on going 130 MPH for a period of time?
H rated are fine and have a softer ride due to less stiffer sidewalls.

I put H rated Michelin MXV4 on two ES350s I owned and they were fine at 90+ MPH.

 

Yeah, even the guys at tire rack said that H's were approved for the RX too. I went with those and the softer ride made a world of difference

 

...at 30,000 miles in 17 Months, the tires are wearing evenly and still have 6/32" of tread left.

They performed well in this, it's second, Michigan winter.

Earlier reports/warnings that I should expect little more than 15,000 miles of life did cause me concern during the first 15K miles; however, reaching 30K has been a nice surprise.

I'll consider replacing them before next winter - UNLESS we are successful at joining the ranks of Snowbird this fall.

I will buy one or the other.
Yes, one is a "H" rated while the other is "V" but in normal everyday driving most of us do the rating difference will not make a difference.

The reviews for both are good.

Anyone want to contribute what they know and better yet have experience with either tire?
