The 3rd gen RX Tire Thread
I am looking for new tires and I am going to get Michelin since I am a loyal fan of Michelin.
However I am confused as to why there are two Latitude HP.
I drive 5000 miles a month, so mileage is king for me as well as well as a smooth quiet ride.
I found one with the Green-X technology and it weighs 32 pounds, and I found one without the green-X technology, but it weighs 29!
Which one will yield better mileage for me?

I already explained that above in #139. Now, trying to find a shop which carries them is another matter as the OE is not carried widely in distribution. You will have to ask and even then may not get a clear answer. Tire Rack has them as you can see. Less weight usually equates to better MPG, however, you are only talking about a total of 12 lbs here.
Hi, my Dec 2012 RX350 (bought new) came with 235/55 R19 Bridgestone Dueler HP 33 tyres that i changed out on Jan 2nd 2014 at a mileage of 29,400km. The replacements were Michelin latitude Tour HP at USD 406 per tyre. ( Blame the high tax structure in Malaysia). Dealer said the replacement interval was normal. I rotate and align as scheduled and mileage comprises 65% highway and 35% city.
Soooo, if you don't have 19" wheels then maybe you.........................
I just pulled up the Costco tire site and the HP's in the 19 are not available but the sports are.
Either way I would have been fine since I don't need winter tires.
Michelin makes a fine tire.
And either 'might' make for a fine choice
But the specs on the 'Sport' don't match the 'HP'.
I too am a loyal Costco member and purchase a lot from them.
But at the moment I won't be buying tires there.
The 'Sport' just is not quite good enough compared to the Lattitude HP

Hey, has anyone tried the Goodyear Eagle LS2 all season tyres? They look pretty decent and have the same noise level, wet grip and fuel efficiency as the Michelin Latitude Tour HP's. Theyre cheaper too.
They are just about the same price as the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tire here in the States and the Pirelli is a far better tire.
rayaans, Lexus used Goodyear on the RX as an OE tire. I had them on both of my prior RXs and they were not very good IMO. I'm not sure about the Eagle LS2. Maybe they're better than ones in the past. But I think the Scorpion Verdes compliment the ride of my 450h with the sport suspension. And they're made on your side of the pond.
The Pirelli is a "V" rated tire while the Goodyear is an "H" rated tire. The Pirelli also has a higher load index, 105 vs. 101 and a higher treadwear rating, 600 vs. 400. Also, if you go to tirerack.com, look up your vehicle and the tires in your size, you can read the surveys and reviews for each as well as compare multiples against each other.
Thanks for the detailed comparison, RX330inFL. I haven't seriously looked at any Goodyear tires based on my previous experience with them. I probably would have Michelins on the 450h right now if not for the Verdes coming out. No regrets. It's been almost two years and 13K miles now.
Anita and others who have the Pirellis have spoken highly of them over time. Just go back earlier in this thread to see what others have been saying.

Over here the Eagle LS2 is rated exactly the same as the Verde all season but it shows the Eagle LS2 to have 69db noise level and pirelli's as 71db. Michelin Latitudes are also 69db and rated exactly the same as the other 2 which has got me rather confused.
Although something about the Pirelli wall design does appeal to me. i think its just the design.
