Buying 2013 RX350 Questions

New member here. I am looking at buying a new rx350awd. The standard tires are P235/60/R18 which according to a internet tire seller make 716 revolutions to the mile. I really like the looks of the optional wheels which are P235/55/VR19, which do 713 revolutions to the mile. This is with the standard OEM Michelin tires rather than the Bridgestones, (Michelin looks like a better rating and consumer satisfaction level). What would the members here recommend? Would the 19 inch wear less and last longer with fewer revs per mile? How about life of wheel bearings etc with less revs per mile over 100,000 miles? The optional tires are wider correct? Would the ride quality suffer? Would they tend to float in rain or snow more than the standard 18" tires/wheels? Would the car handle quicker on dry road? Are these questions a moot point (difference is so small it makes no difference, get whichever looks the best to me)? and finally, Are the MSRP and invoice prices you find on the internet correct? is there still dealer holdbacks or did Lexus eliminate that ? Whats a good deal 5% off invoice? 10% off invoice??? Thanks |
I'm running the 19" on my 2010 with Michelin tires and with 18600 miles on it and the tires may be about 1/3 of life worn. As for the price of the 2013s I don't think you'll get anywhere close to 5-10 off of MSRP right now. I just got through negotiating for a 2012 trade and the dealer didn't come off but about 10% off of the MSRP and that included the 2k manufacturer to dealer incentive. I didn't trade.

So in theory, bearing life and tire life should improve equally. However, bearings have so many other variables, this variable is a moot point. If you get 40k miles from tires, reduced by .4% = 167 miles of added life. Again, its a moot point. |
I got 6% off MSRP on my 2013 the same month they were released, May 31st...Love the ride and look of my 19's!!

In CA / WC you could get 6% off at least. Especially if you add things like remote starters, spash guards, side molding etc, (things that carry some pretty big markups to MSRP) and increases your MSRP savings quite quickly.

I would say "buy the one that looks good to you". Ride quality is "slightly" different in the 19" but the look wins it over easy.

Thanks for the help. Lexus has informed me that the 19 wheels are not available with a all options pkg. model that I want.
Why are you guys saying there no real discounts except in calif? Are these cars "hot" items everywhere else by sales numbers? |
