Default 1 week old and strange spots

Hello members, been reading this forum for awhile now, when doing my research prior to buying and finally after buying, and exploring different options.

A week ago bought a new rx350 for mywife, black on black and both of us are truly enjoying this vehicle. This is our second rx - gen 1 and now gen 3. Big difference.

Here is my question though: wife took the car to a dealers car wash and I've noticed some strange spots in 3 different places, so I took it back to the dealer next day, they couldn't figure out what it was, but brought some polisher and a microfiber towel and managed to get rid of them. However, now instead of those 3 tiny spots I clearly see 3 large swirl spots from tem rubbing the compound in... What should I do at this point? Any thoughts? I am afraid if I continue to push them they will make matter worse...

I am not a DYIer, hence, won't be polishing the whole thing myself.

Any thoughts? Kind of upsetting to me to see this on a 1 week old car. I've owned black cars before and haven't had this kind of a problem.

Thank you all.

I would never let the dealership wash any car especially black colored ones. I would recommend u find a professional detailer and have him fix the issue. Best of luck! Btw congrats on the new ride!

Yep ... professional detailer is your best bet. Find someone you trust locally and they will be able to quickly fix the problem. Plus you might want to setup a regular schedule for them to go over your car to keep it nice. They can also help you make good decisions about day-to-day care so you can minimize problems with the black color.

The spots could have been caused by a number of environmental factors (birds, etc.). You may want to double check where you are parking the car just to make sure that you don't have more problems.

Car care is a very easy skill to pickup. You might want to learn how to do all the basics (wash car, wax) because it will almost always allow you to deal with any problem that develops quickly. It may be easier than taking the car to the dealership or detailer.

Welcome to CL, 1811Lexus. It sounds like the dealer didn't follow up with polish to remove the swirls and wax to touch it up. I agree, a competent detailer will be able to take care of it. Or you can do it yourself with a minimal investment of time and money. Lexus' paint is soft and susceptible to scratches. To prevent further damage, stay away from the dealer car wash. Stick with a touchless place instead.
