The Maps get updated every year and the hardware gets updated typically with a new generation.

Lexus needs to get with the program and provide CarPlay and Android Auto as an option to all of its cars. Their navigation system is dated and slow and maps shouldn't cost $300 to update.

Lexus is no different than other luxury auto makers. Porsche charges just about $550 for its map update and over $800 for the software.

I used Waze on my phone EVERYTIME!!! Forget the car's gps. I Bluetooth my phone to the Lexus Enform system and works well. I have either Pandora or iHeartRadio playing too. With this set up, even with the FREE Pandora account, the commercials are stripped out and only music will be playing. If you do the free Pandora WITHOUT the Lexus Enform (still via Bluetooth), you will hear commercials.

Yes, does anyone here have much experience with the Grom addition? Under $1K, and it looks like it turns a 2010 RX into a state-of-the-art system with GoogleMaps.

I have the GROM VL2 in my 2016 GS. I can't say enough about this unit, as it is better than any infotainment system that could ever come in a car. It's essentially an Android tablet, so you can do anything a tablet can do. No car system will ever be able to top that.

Every music app you ever wanted is available. I watched the Witcher on Netflix every day at work on my lunch breaks with the Mark Levinson sound system. I streamed the NFL playoffs, and was able to actually see the game instead of just listening to it on the radio. Obviously you don't want to do any of this stuff while you're driving, but that's not what I'm suggesting. In terms of functionality, it just can't be beat.

The unit has been rock solid. The company was great when I needed support. I can't say enough about the company or the product itself. And with an update coming soon to bring it up to Android 10, it will be relevant for years to come.

Tesla's system is good at what it does, but it will never have the full functionality and versatility that an Android system does without running Android itself.

I checked out the website. some questions:

Does the car's screen still present you with the OEM climate control screen? Or does the new GROM controller take over everything and things are all different?
