Default I went to local Toyota for 5K check on 2012 RX-350

instead of driving 135 miles to dealer. They had a great showroom, wicked comfortable chairs to wait. Did tire rotation, oil change 7 qts of synthetic and gave a free car wash at the local car wash and every 5th oil change is free.

For about $80. I thought that was a great deal. I felt well taken care of and saved myself about 6 hours and wear and tear on the car.

So, a huge W in the Win column for sure. I said I would update the old thread on this topic but could not find it.

Glad u had a great experience at a Toyota dealership. I'm taking mine in to a Toyota dealership for an oil change mid of next week as soon as I hit 25K.

Yeah, I think it was a great ting to do. I would have preferred to give my car business to a local dealer, but there was no Lexus dealer within 80 miles. It was a win win type of thing!

So how many miles were on the car when you had this work done?

It was the first scheduled maintenance at 5K.

You had the oil changed at 5,000 miles and not at 10,000 miles? How many cars have you had that have used 0W20? Trust Lexus and get the oil change ever 10K miles and save some money.

So the $80 you paid by not driving to the Lexus dealer balanced the included 5K service that comes with a new RX? Or is this a used 2012 without that perk? Like mentioned above the 10K interval is plenty for an oil change and the factory recommended interval.

There's no Lexus dealer in Hyannis?

Nearest dealer is Providence or Boston It is a new car and has all warranty. It included the 5k inspection.

It was recommended to change at the FIRST 5k. Then 10K after that I think. Having a first class Toyota Dealer in Orleans is like a Godsend for this type of stuff.

I see like 50 RX's a day around here. They must be getting worked on somewhere

Driving 160 miles for an oil change, free or not, is insanity to me. Even going to Hyannis for my old BMW sucked.

Lucky you. Here in the Greater Toronto Area, all Toyota dealers also own Lexus dealership, hence they won't service any Lexus, unless bought used from their lots. They keep claiming that Toyota Canada tells them so, but when I called their customer service, each one said the dealers are free to service any vehicle they want, as long as warranty work and claims are done by Lexus for Lexus cars and Toyota for Toyota cars.

Clearly, the dealers are looking after each other revenue stream and gauging us as a result.

Yeah I'm up here in Eastham this weekend and seems like every 5th car is an RX so m guessing the Toyota dealer in Orleans sees a lot of them. Sure beats driving to Boston or Providence!

Food for thought, yes you can service your Lexus at a Toyota dealer granted they do not own a Lexus dealer on the same property or vicinity. You do lose out on certain perks like warranty service (if necessary) and of course a loaner car option if your vehicle is in for service.

I live in Niagara Falls. The nearest Lexus store is in St. Catharines. I use the NF Toyota store for basic service and Lexus for the warranty stuff. Works well enough, no quibbles on either end. And my on-line service history shows all service done by either dealership. Find a Toyota store that isn't attached to the Lexus dealership; you should be OK.

I'll be getting my oil change at the Toyota dealer 1/2 mile from my house next week. The nearest Lexus dealer (were I bought it last year) is 90 miles away. 25,000 miles on my 2008
