I have parking assist on my 2012 RX. When I enter the garage it picks up the garage doorway on either side, but it does not warn of objects directly in front of the car if I pull to far forward. Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes, the '13 RX has four sensors now. Two are located on either side of the front license plate. I guess they had to do it because the front bumper is more angled near the fog lights.
Because they upgraded the parking module which support 8 sensors. Maybe we will see lines on the backup camera in this version.
The thing is on the 2012 with the backup camera, I would rather have 4 sensors in front instead of in back. The backup camera does a great job in letting you see how close objects are in back of you. in fact a camera in front that would activate under 5 miles per hour would be better than the sensors.

I totally agree. That was a ridiculous "cutback" especially since the front bumper curves out and the center of it sticks out about 10" further than the ends. If they wanted to "cheap out" and stick with 6 sensors, put 4 in the front and 2 in the back. The back bumper is much straighter plus you've got the camera. Dumb decision!
I vote for a recall retrofit upgrade to add the 2 sensors in the front along with the new module which is apparently necessary to handle 8 sensors. (They could even compromise and keep the same module, add 2 sensors to the front and disable 2 in the back, but that's reallypenny pinching and ,after all, this is a Lexus--give us what we paid for and deserve--the best!)
Why do you need sensors directly in your line of sight? Never missed having them in front of me, I can judge my distance by sight, don't need another nanny.

The bottom line is like 90% of the options you don't need them. However if you have paid for them they should work as well in front as in back to help you avoid those little dings and scratches in a painted bumper.
