Default RX engine sound

Just got a 2012 Lexus RX 350, but find out that the engine sound is quite "noisy" in the lower gear or when pushing the peddle. Is this just my car, or is common?

Indeed RX 350 is very quiet when it's in high gear or running on the highway. The engine sound is really highlighted or somewhat annoying when pushing the peddle.

Your baby's normal.
and you can find a lot of threads of people complaining about the same thing.
my take on this.. and it's just my opinion..
the sound adds a more masculine appeal to the car, especially if you're coming from a complete stop.

It's NO Dodge Challenger.. which is my barometer as a noisy engine.

...maybe to contradict the perception that RX 350s are "girl's cars",,,as some would call them...in my opinion, say what you want but my 2012 is the quiets suv have ever owned...and I have owned quite a few of just about all brands...from Mazda MPV to Acura MDX 2011....I am still in love with thiss 2012 RX 350...enjoy the ride snd gon't try to find faults..remember nothing is prefect and Lexus in my opinion is the closest..

I have RX300, so maybe I need to chage my perception. I agree, the new RX 350 wants to be more musculine. Thank you.

As long as the sound is nomral, I live with it. The outlook, ride, and other aspects of new RX 350 is more "man" now comparing to the old RX, which I have also,

Mine has the same loud engine also. It's very annoying but everything else in the cars so nice it offsets the noise.

Default RX 350 noise

There are 65 threads on this topic in the Third Generation forum alone. The advanced search function is very useful for looking up topics before posting a new thread.
My RX is also a little noisy on full throttle but the smooth, quiet highway ride makes it a great road trip car.

RX 450H owner here - two months in, and the engine definitely has a nice controlled growl when accellerating aggressively to highway speed. I actually think it is a feature - not a bug.

I kind of like that description. Mine does too and if I didn't like it so much, my excellent mileage would be even better

Yes, the RX does have a nice sporty growl when accelerating "aggressively". Even my '07 RX had a nice sound when accelerating aggressively. But where I think it gets a little annoying in the sound is on gradual acceleration from a stop, or even sitting at a stop light at idle. I sometimes put the gear shifter in neutral to make the idle more muted when I'm stopped at a stop light.

I like the growl also. If you don't want any engine noise perhaps you should be looking at a Prius.

Mine got really loud since this morning. I don't know what's going on with it. Its sounding like a diesel truck. and i can hear it through the whole cabin. Could it be bad gas?
