Is it too hot if using HID light kit for the fog light?
I just installed the HID bulbs 5000k to my fog lights, I feel the lens get hotter, but will it get too hot and melt the housing?
Is it causing too much flare or too bright for oncoiming traffic? thx.

No, I don't play soccer!
Huynh9999, congrats on the install. Post pictures when you have a chance.
To answer your questions, no, I didn't have any problems with the housing when I had 6K and 5K HID fog lights in the 450h for a year or so. People have commented here on potential risks due to the higher bulb temperature. But I haven't heard any reports of actual damage on the RX. The fog lights themselves are aimed lower than headlights. Obnoxious? Yes, at least that's what a friend told me Nobody flashed me so I guess they weren't so bad after all.

Before using these lights on the road, you should park your car in a safe spot at night and then inspect them yourself. I have to believe these would be a safety hazard for other drivers.

That make me feel better as I was worry it will do some damage. I run for a while, parked the car for few mins to take pictures....then feel the lenses little hotter than usual.
UCSB and 2011RX350,
I've just parked the car then checked it out the lights, they are aiming down, so we are good.

Here are the pictures:
Below is head light without fog light. There are little area in front that need some lights
Head with Fog
Running with No Fog
Running with Fog. Little more light, but there are 2 dark spots on both sides that light can't reach.
Love the light, so focused.
Both head lights and fogs are HID 5000k.

I can not believe these would really bother anyone as the cut offs for the low beams seems to be well defined and low enough. The fogs are low enough that they wont shine in other drivers eyes. Also remember the camera makes them look more obnoxious than they are in real life.
