Default Looking into buying an RX350 for my wife

Hello everyone I'm currently an IS250 owner but looking to add to the Lexus family by buying my wife an RX350 as a graduation gift for her masters in social work.

Her and I currently have a 2012 RX350 as a loaner from our local Lexus dealer ( My IS as at the dealer for a TSIB) and we've had it for a little over a week now. However seeing as the loaner only had 1,000 miles her and only have been able to experience it as a daily driver and to do our day to day routine.

What I would really like to know is what should I look for as far as items that break on them or that typically go wrong with these vehicles as we are looking into buying a used CPO 2010 or 2011. Do they suffer from engine start up noise(this is what my IS is at the dealer for)?

thank you

Default got my 2012 RX350

I just bought one 2012 RX350 for my wife, it is a gorgeous car. I search around the web sites and I could not find any complaints that could scare me enough to step away from it.
I would say go for it.

You are in FL, a good place to buy a new 2012 RX.

My friend just bought a new 2012 RX for a little UNDER invoice PLUS they offer Conquest Cash Rebate if you currently own MB, BMW, Acura, Infiniti, Audi, Caddy, Buick, Volvo.....With that he got roughly over 13% OFF of the MSRP. Also, the offer 1.9% APR for 60 mos. It is BETTER to buy a new one instead of a CPO even though mine is still great after 21k miles and 2 years old.

Good luck.

I think they are pretty reliable if that is your main concern. Don't expect to get great gas mileage, even on the highway. If you are a long term buyer take a look at the hybrid. Reported to get about 10mpg better.

I shopped around for a while for a CPO and wasn't able to find a good deal as a new one! A while being about 3-4 months. Enjoy shopping!

Thanks for the advise guys, the hybrid is out of the question for me as I know nothing on the hybrid system . I a mechanic while going through school so I do the typical maintnance on all my cars that Lexus likes to shaft you with.

In regards tp the gas mileage we still have the loaner 2012 RX350 and in that time her and I noticed that the gas mileage is better than her Isuzu Rodeo (V6 3.2L) but not as good as my IS250 (I litter in displacement makes a huge diffrence).

Ours only has 2k miles so it better not have any issues. We average around 19mpg with mostly city bit with 20psi. Dealer set it low as I just found out. So should get up to 20 now. I'm sure it'sicj better on the freeway.

nothing major that i can think of, remember you are buying into the Toyota Family which is known for reliability.
and you do see a lot of 1st generation RX 350 out there, more than the competition, and that tells you something.
On the top of my head, if you get the Navi, you will be paying for updates every year.. of course, it's optional and that's about $300-350

I have an 2010 RX 350 with 48,000 kms (30,000 mi.) with premium 2 package. Love the vehicle! I have owned many hondas and toyotas and also have a BMW 3 series. The RX drives like new and is very well equipped. I did not go for the nav package because I have one on my phone (GPS) and really think the additional cost is poor value. I don't have TV's in the back seat either

My option package does have a few of items that I think are essential. Rear back up camera, memory seats, ventilated seats. There are other features which are nice but these have become very important to me. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and drive the truck alot for my work. The vehicle is a dream on the highway and the AWD works like magic in snow (although I guess that won't matter much to you...). IF you have any questions let me know.

Good luck!

Which month did you buy it? I bought mine in January 2012 and dealer said there were no incentives. I checked on line and confirmed the same.

I think there were incentives in Dec 2011 but I missed those.
