rear overhead dome light stays on all night if you turn it on and forgot to turn it off (the lights that you press to turn on manually left/right in the rear).. is there a control for it to atleast auto turn off that is missed ? it's just strange that there is continous power feed even the car is shut off
The Auto Off is geared to shutting off the car or closing the door and leaving. Manual on requires manual off. The reason is if you turned it on manually to do something it would be pretty annoying if it went off every 30 seconds or so and you weren't ready. It's just a normal way of doing things.

Next time it doesn't go off after the specified time, get back in and turn on the ignition. See if there is a dash indication the rear hatch isn't fully shut. That might be the issue.
Ok, I just read you had manually turned it on. That's the reason, see my post #4.

Hi Cruiter, I totally agreed with that reason if you're inside the car reading or whatever then it should stay on as long as you're inside the car, but come on.. wouldn't it be ssmart to have all lights in the car turn off after like 10 minutes when you 'leave' your car and 'lock' it ? it just seems like they have missed it. I mean 20 years ago, when you leave the headlights ON over night, it stays on.. and in the morning the battery will be dead..well.. it is what it is
