groan from steering wheel

I've been hearing a groaning noise from the steering wheel. Been hearing it once in awhile for several months, but now constant when it's hot outside (when turning). The dealer recently "lubricated steering rubber boot for the input shaft", but still no relief. In cooler weather, no problem. Has anyone had this problem, it's strange that it's tied to the weather. The rx 2010 was purchased in April 09, mileage 20K. Thank you in advance, for any feedback regarding this matter.

used to get a groaning from behind wheel, took to dealer who said they found nothing, but it hasn't happened since

there was a service bulletin somewhere on this forum about noise coming from an adapter on brake booster

always wondered if that was the culprit

Had the same thing happen. However, our service order says they "lubricated both firewall steering shaft boot and steering rack control valve dust boot".
Since then groaning noise gone. We had brought it in a few months ago but they couldn't duplicate it...had to wait until it got more noticeable (as in all the time) and it did happen to get worse during the summer.

thank you for your comments. Had to take the car in twice, to cure the problem, I hope! Written on the service order "lubricate steering gear rubber boot for input shaft", takes only a couple of minutes. I hope this information will help someone. Thanks again

I notice the groan occasionally. It doesn't usually bother me because I cannot hear it over the radio/music. I guess I will have them take a look at it next time I have to have it serviced.
