The 3RX Gas Mileage Thread
I'm seeing a 2 MPG drop in my fuel economy here in WI too. Everything else is the same. Same routes, same brand of gas, same driver. My experience over the years is that I drop between 6 - 8% in MPG with winter blended gasoline. One way I can counteract that is that I live about 8 miles from an area where real (E-0, non-ethanol) gasoline is available. While it is also a winter bend, the lack of ethanol restores a couple percent more energy to the fuel. By using that fuel in the winter I can restore that 6-8% drop in MPG. You can find if E-0 Gas is available in your area here: http://www.pure-gas.org or here: http://www.buyrealgas.com/index.html
Just bought a new 2015 RX350 AWD. Been using 89 octane gasoline and averaging 20 mpg combined city and highway. Looking for other RX 350 owners comments about experience with 87, 89, and 91 or 93 octane gas usage.
Car runs great with 89 octane.

Now that I have about 27,000 miles on my 2013 RX 350, I am getting more consistent mileage. What I have found, is that overall mileage means very little, for comparison purposes. Local driving is too inconsistent to quantify, and is different for everyone. Hills, stoplights, stop signs, traffic congestion, speed, heavy foot and the amount of braking you do, are just too many variables to get a good read on fuel economy. I have gotten anywhere from 17.2 to 20.0 mpg around town. However, interstate driving at around 75 mph, is giving me a fairly consistent 22.9 to 23.7 mpg after fueling mileage. I also think the quality of the gas, ethanol content and contaminants can play a role too.
Everything you said

I had a tire inflation warning light recently and pumped up my tires. I noticed an almost increase of 2mpg's since.
Hello,
I just got my 2010 and my step mother has always used REG gas and the gauge says she has been averaging 21 MPG....
Do you think switching to PREM will help and in the end cost less when comparing the MPG and cost of gas?
and do you think going from REG to PREM after 4 years will hurt anything?

My 2010 RX gives me the exact same gas mileage on regular as on premium. With gas getting cheaper I thought I try going back to premium and have filled up the last 3-5 tanks with premium.
I did not get any better mileage and did not notice any difference in performance.
I suggest you run the tank almost empty, fill 1/2 with regular and try it. If you "feel" any difference, so as a ping, then fill the remainder with premium and in essence you will have a "mid grade" tankful.
I would interested to hear if you see anything significant because I have not. I am going to stop wasting the $.30 per gallon extra cost. This adds up to hundreds of dollars per year for me.

I have filled up 3 times with PREM... MPG is just about the same .... DEF no increase.. though I am prob driving a bit different than her as I am having fun with my new toy... but for most part drive normal and no difference.. Will try reg next and see if it drops etc.... I was surprised when she said all she ever used was reg .. but if it works why switch!
I've tried regular, mid-grade, and premium gasolines in our 2015 RX450h and I still only get 23.3 MPG.This unit has almost 6K miles on it already.
Not only that, the monitor reads the same (23.3 MPG) regardless of in-city driving or highway driving. Any of you all have similar results?
