Welcome to the forum.

My fuel economy picked up around the 6-7k mile range in my 2014 RX350 AWD. I'm now getting 25 MPG around town (rural 8 stoplight town) and 26-27 on my last extended highway trip. I've tried 91 octane and saw no difference over 87 octane, BTW.

Enjoy your new RX.

Great job Jim. You're getting close to the mileage on the 450h. Tell me your tricks so I can get 40+ MPG on mine

No secrets... I drive with a light foot and I mentally drive well ahead of where I am on the road. Here is the data I've recorded for my vehicle so far. My MPG improved a bit right around the 6k mark. This was in mid-May so not a winter-fuel phenomenon. While I do have access to real gas (non-ethanol) around 10 miles from my home, so far I've been using E10 fuel. Living in a small town (<10,000) makes things a lot easier as there is less stop and go driving or heavy traffic to contend with. I do consciously drive with fuel economy in mind as a sort of challenge.

It's a home grown spreadsheet. I am an OLD it guy and used to love playing with spreadsheets. I can't recall when I started keeping track of my MPG but it's been decades. I occasionally think I should just hang it up, LOL. This spreadsheet is built in Apple Numbers but could likely be modified to run on Excel. Besides the two sheets I posted, it has a maintenance log page and graphics to track MPG by octane and a MPG by % highway. If you are using Apple technology, the spreadsheet also can run on and stays in-sync with iPhones and iPads. If you'd like a copy I'd be happy to send you the template. Send me a PM with your private email address and I'll send it to you.

I'm so pleased with my 2015 RX350, AWD. The MPGs are real close to what I was getting with my old car. So far, I seem to average around 22-24 mpgs during the work-week (75% highway, 25% city). Definitely at the lower end if I make multiple stops after work (grocery, post office, etc) vs "just going home".

This past weekend we drove from Indianapolis to Ohio for a family reunion. First "road-trip", and I was anxious to see how good it would do in regards to MPGs and comfort. Well, on the way to Ohio I saw 25.4 MPGs, once "back home again, in Indiana" and at the gas station for refueling it read 25.1. I've gotta say, after spending almost 5 hours in the car that day I was over-the-top happy with the MPGs, ride, comfort, well...just everything.... whew, I do love this vehicle!

Oh, tire psi is 32 all around. I see where some post they're running 34-36psi..isn't that higher than the recommendation? Mine were set at 36 when I first got it home from the dealership, after a week I set them all to 32. Seems to ride a bit smoother to me.

After half a year and 3000 miles on the new 2014 rx, I'm only getting 12 mpg from 100% city driving about 20 minutes each time before turning off car. Is this normal, or do I have a problem with the car that needs to be inspected? I use regular gas 87 mostly shell and mobile. I could never get higher than 17 mpg even right after refueling.

In my experience with my RX 350 (2010) - the gas milage prompt on the dash is nearly always wrong. I get a consistent 20 mph with Premium fuel (89 or 91 octane), city and hwy. Sometimes I can get 21 mpg on the highway, but I tend to drive as fast as traffic will allow. The ECO light is usually on all the time.

Default picked up another 2 mpg

An old friend and car nut told me to inflate my tires from 32 lbs. to 35 lbs. My gas mileage improved by over 2 MPG using the summer blend 87 octane fuel in my 2010 (that recommends 91 octane). I have never seen a difference in MPG or performance between regular and super.
I am now getting up to 26 MPG on the highway. Also, I want to mention I have found the digital MPG to always be correct when I fill up and due the math manually.
I think driving style as a lot to due with MPG, since this is a heavy vehicle to get moving. I am not an aggressive driver and I coast to a stoplight or stop street and use engine braking when possible. Also, cruise control whenever possible. And a big difference between 65mph and 75 mph.

Smile A few points to consider, my two cents

I find my RX's computer to be extremely accurate when checked against actual fuel consumption. However, that does not include the "Average Mileage" figure, which is way off, but only the "Mileage Since Fill Up" figure. It also assumes the odometer reading is accurate. Local, around town mileage, has too many variables to bother to compare. Those would include speed limits, hills, stop signs, traffic lights and how much time sitting or idling among many.....not to mention drivers heavy on both the gas.....and the brake. When comparing highway driving numbers, ethanol content and tire pressure can have a noticeable effect, but IMO only about 10% or so.
