Don't you just hate driving through/past an asphalt paving crew at work?

I have a few spots of asphalt on my paint work, and they defied being washed or scrubbed off.

Is it safe to use Varsol or mineral spirits on the Lexus paint? Or should I get an asphalt/tar remover specifically made for automotive use?

Paint thinner works great and will not harm the finish, that's what is in the bug and tar remover. DO NOT use Lacquer Thinner or say good bye to your paint.

WD 40 will work if it is has not be on for weeks. WD 40 (fish oil) will not hurt the paint

Twice a year I take a clay bar to my car. It does a great job of removing tar, bug splatter, sap from my neighbour's tree, etc. Just don't drop it on the driveway or you'll be scratching your car's finish.

I have found Turtle Wax's tar-n-bug remover works well over the years

An old dryer sheet dipped in water works great on dried bugs, so it might also work on tar.
