When I bought my '13 almost a year ago it had 32 in the tires; I increased it to 34 and last week at my 10,000 mile mark the dealer LEFT it at 34; it rides a little harder but MUCH better gas mileage!! As long as you don't go over what is written on the sidewall, it is safe to drive with however much hard riding you can live with!!

That being said, I think I've got mine at 34-35 right now. When the weather turned cold I started getting tire pressure low warning so I pumped them up.

I've been thinking of using nitrogen, but I understand it's $10/tire and they install green valve stem caps. Not sure how the green would go with the blue themed hybrid colors!
I can hardly see the green caps.

YESSSSS, If we are educated and intelligent enough to afford a Lexus; please DO NOT fall for the Nitrogen scam....a TOTAL SCAM; unless you drive at least 150 MPH it does NO GOOD..it is only usable in racing where really high heat can change the size of the tire because of intense brake rotor heat..........

My dealer delivered the RX with air at about 38 psi and regular air. Not going to bother with any nitrogen fillup. As long as you keep the minimum required that's posted on the door, you should be good, and that number is usually a good compromise between comfort and fuel economy.
I tend to run all my vehicles around 40psi to maximize fuel economy, no one has ever really noticed any harsher ride.

I buy almost everything at Costco...
They have a good tire program. Free tire rotation ( every 5,000 miles) and balancing for the life of the tires.
Costco only puts on Nitrogen on their tires. So basically, i 'm getting it for free.

The Toyota Prius is a little different when it comes to tire pressure , the recommended is 33 on the front and 35 at the back. ( although you'll hear from a lot of " hypermilers" out there that they do 40psi on all 4s).
so i check my tire pressure every morning, about once a week and I have noticed that the Nitrogen holds close to it's psi than regular air.

For the RX, i have it at 34psi on all 4s.

Default Nitrogen ??? Won't hurt anything except your wallet

For those that like the word a little more official, pick up the latest Consumer Reports. Even they debunked it. Per Consumer Reports, the nitrogen is still 80% the air you breath. Even they said it won't hurt but also won't do you a bit of good. Except for the folks that sold it to you .

So if it came free, then no harm, no foul. It's a good sales feature I guess.
