They are replacing the entire door. They are a Lexus Certified shop. My neighbor 2 doors down bought a ES350 about a month after I bought my Lexus. He was driving along and a huge rock hit the hood and scratched and dented the hood, big time. I am taking it to the shop he took his to. They did an excellent job, I was very impressed. His color was the Light Cashmere, wish the RX came in that color.
The guy who hit me is paying for it outright, he has the bucks. At least I was hit by an Infiniti. I wish I could just trade it in and get a new one and make him pay the difference. I feel cheated.

I take it in Monday get it back Friday. I will let you know how it goes.

On my case, the other party's insurance paid for everything, I told it to a Lexus certify shop, which my dealer offered. Insurance paid for 10 days of rental for repair. Hopefully get it back sometime next week.

So sorry about your experience. My dealership has a collision center and uses something called "Sikkens Two and Three Stage Painting". Does anyone know anything about its quality? Would it help in this situation? Is it better to work with the dealership and its experience with Lexus products or go to a large, independent body shop?

not even deductible. when it's the other party's fault, they pay for everything, absolutely zero from your pocket

He is paying for everything including the rental. He did not want to run it through his insurance, rates going up, so he agreed to pay it out of pocket. I'll let you know the out come of all of this.

Make sure he signs some kind of document reading he's at fault, and paying for all damages, so won't be issues in the future.

"is their insurance going to pay" they should and make sure you get LOST of VALUE on your car. This mistake can cost you twice the pain that you are in now and money when you let this car go for another one.

Went to the dealer tonight to check on the lost value thing. They said that it can affect the resale value. The sales manger said however, if I traded it in there and after seeing the actual damage they would not ding me for the dent on the trade in value. Especially since Scott's Coach Works was doing the repair. They supposedly repair the six digit cars and are quite good at it.
I have no choice but to move forward and see what happens.

that's great but you still have lost value in the car that you got now. Some one hit the back end on our 330RX and it was less damage that what you have I got $500.00 for lost value of this car. As to what your dealer tells you about it now and what happens when you do trade it in or sale it outright could change. But it is up to you its only money and you can always make more tomorrow.

Situation su*** brand new car.
Understand how you feel about being cheated and the loss of value.
Hopefully the bodyshop will do a great job.
Good luck.
