Question Aftermarket DVD Headrests

For those that bought the car and have the dealer installing the aftermarket DVD headrests: Do you get to keep the headrests that come with the car? I just picked up my car and the stock headrests are not in my car. I called the service consultant and she said the dealer keeps them. I'm going to call my saleman tomorrow to see what's going on with this.

They are yours, you paid for them
When you add aftermarket wheels and tires - the originals are yours. It is what comes delivered to the dealership. I have been through this already with many modifications done prior to taking delivery of a few cars.

Unless the existing OEM headrests were modified and the DVD displays were inset, which I doubt.

You're correct. the DVD headrests are the replacement of the stock headrests. I'll talk to my saleman tomorrow.

Sounds like a core exchange program...but for headrests? That's a new one.

Were you made aware of this "exchange" when you signed-up for the DVD option? Is it explained anywhere in the fine print of whatever docs they gave you? If not, I'd write a letter of complaint to the General Mgr of the dealership and copy Lexus HQ in Torrance, CA. If not satisfied with the response, next step after that would be small claims court, asking for whatever the retail value is of the AWOL OEM parts, taxed and delivered to you.

It's not explained anywhere. Before signing the papers, I even asked the saleman what will happen to the stock headrests and he said that I will have them. Of course now he said he didn't say it.

I sent a message to the sale manager. Let see if I hear from him. If not, I will send a note to the general manager and lexus as you suggested.

Finally got the stock headrests from the dealer today. What a pain!!!!

For those who may consider getting aftermarket DVDs from the dealers and want to keep the stock headrests, you may want to get your saleman to have this written down. Apparently at least at this dealer, they do keep the stock ones.
