Default USB Flash Drive 255 file limit?

I have a 16GB USB flash drive loaded with songs. I plug it into the USB port deep in the glove box and it works fine... except that only 255 songs are available (out of the 2,000+ I have on there). Is this a limitation of the interface?

I'd just use my iPhone, but the stereo won't allow me to skip tracks via bluetooth and if I hook it up via USB, the bluetooth won't pair for the phone features.

Found the answer in my owner's manual:

Items related to standards and limitations are as follows:
• Maximum directory hierarchy:8 levels
• Maximum number of folders in a device:999 (including the root)
• Maximum number of files in a device:65025
• Maximum number of files per folder:255

You can reorganize the USB flash drive into several folders.

Yeah, it took me a while to figure it out. Just create folders like 1,2,3, etc. and in each folder you can pack up to 255 songs.

If you click on "RANDOM" does it still go between all of the folders? What about the folders within those folders? If not, I have to manually go through each one of them to listen to all my songs.

I don't recall how the system plays songs with RANDOM. However, without RANDOM, it will play the music folder by folder, you don't have to manually go thru folders to listen to music.

You should give it a try. Folders within folders, very interesting question.
