Default Diff breather type ?

Just double checking , 2011 rx350 ( North America ) The breather valve on top of the rear differential, is that the pressed type or threaded . Looks like it's pressed to me. Anyway to change it , without dropping the Diff ? Thanks

It's leaking little oil on both side of the ax seals , when I was changing the fluid and took the drain plug , I heard air pressure release . So...I am guessing the valve is the problem , not releasing pressure and pushing the oil out...common problem.

If no one answers, you can try to visit online parts retailer and drill down the differential and they will show you the picture of all attachments ... you may even discover a need of a seal.

Yes Toyota dealers sell parts if shared among Lexus-Toyota models. FYI the Highlander is a mechanical twin, The 2013-19 Highlander shares the rear suspension with the 2010-2015 RX.

I can't even seem to find the part number for it....it shows the threaded plug , but all the 2010 and up diffs I have seen , they have the pressed plug....

It may be time to visit or telephone the local dealer parts department.

@zeusapolo

90930-03075 is the number

It's not a threaded one like on the older RXs, it's a push-in style one. I haven't done it on my 2014 RX, but it was easy to do on my 2008. Does not look fun to access on these newer ones

Thanks , that's what I ordered today . Yes, pain in the *** , you have to drop the diff. I just said *** it and made a small hole under the spare tire .10min job VS 10 hours hehe.

Yeah after seeing what was involved, I may just wait for my seals to blow out and reseal the whole diff w/ new pinion and side shaft seals + new breather at the same time.
