Smile Starter replacement for 2012 RX

I gave up, trying to do a search for starters in Club Lexus after going through 10 pages…. so, I have to get a new starter and my options are a remanufactured Lexus starter, from a Lexus dealership
a few states away or a new Denso starter. I can’t get a new Lexus starter because they are on back order everywhere. Which would you choose?

I would have my factory starter refurbished with the proper Denso kit by the trusted starter & alternator repair shop about 30 miles west of us. They always do a great job for me at less than half the cost of a new unit. Plus, I know there will never be any system compatibility issues because I get to re-install my now good-as-new factory component once I pick it up from them.

OEM was probably Denso as they are the OEM provider for many Toyota and Lexus parts. Just get the Denso if doing the rebuild thing is too complicated.
Also check the Toyota Nation forum for the 2nd gen Highlander as it is a mechanical twin to the RX (except the rear suspension)

Thanks! I have a choice of a refurbished OEM from Lexus for $444 w shipping (they are no longer new ones for a 2012), a refurbished Denso, or a new Denso for $200 from Napa Auto Parts, although they’re not sure if it’s important whether my engine is from US versus Japan. None of this will be me installing-though thank you for thinking I have that skill set.

It is very important as to who purchases the part and who installs it. Make sure you discuss it with the mechanic.
