Car Paint Pen
Hi there,
I'm thinking of repairing some minor scratches with car paint pen. My colour code is Obsidian 212. 2010 Lexus RX450H.
Has anyone ever tried to do something like this and what were the results?
I read a review with 5 most popular choices, Dr. ColorChip and TouchUpDirect seem to have the specific color code, Dupli-Color unfortunately not.

There are different things in play.
Color: All vehicles sold as a certain color do not match 100% to each other. The mix, prep and application thickness [although controlled] will be different.
As the vehicle is exposed to sun, different panels fade differently, so don't expect the color on one end of the vehicle to match the other end perfectly.
Surface: We perceive color by reflected light. When touchup is done, getting the base, paint and clear coat on top, exactly the same as the surface adjacent to the scratch is impossible.
To get an unidentifiable repair you have to paint the whole panel or feather (blend) out the repair.
At the end if you want to repair to basically prevent rust, go ahead and DIY. If you want better results, ask your Lexus dealership for a touchup specialist. They have the skill for blending scratches.

PS: At times it is better to just patch up and once you have more than a handful, contact the touchup specialist.
