Default RX330 Nav Mute?

I just got my crystal white FWD Rx330 w/Perf & Nav this week. She's a beaut!

I've noticed that the Nav doesn't mute the stereo for voice prompts, which makes it impossible to use the voice prompts and the stereo at the same time. Is this the way it's supposed to work, or is there some way to fix it?

Also, for those times I don't want to listen to the voice (everyday driving) it sure would be nice if I could leave the NAV volume off. It comes back on every time I restart the car. Is there a fix for that yet?

you can set your stereo for auto noise reduction - it's the same button you push in to set the fade / balance / etc

there's no way to auto mute the NAV - you have to set it each time
