2009 front door speakers
Trying to replace the front door speakers on my wife's 2009 RX. Amazon shows both 6.5 and 6x9 as direct replacements. What size do I need? Her car is non nav if that helps
They are 6x9's stock but 6.5's will fit with the correct adapter. Either way, you need an adapter, I would not go without it. I also highly recommend the wiring adapter if you will be re-using the factory speaker wires.
Haven't messed with my speakers but may in the future.
2005-2012 Toyota Avalon JBL speakers are a good fit with the stock Pioneer head unit & amp, and sound fine on my car with my aftermarket Pioneer head unit and 4 channel amplifier. I'm going to put Infinity Reference 6.5" components in the front doors and coaxials in the rears and seeing how I'll like it. My guess is I will because I have them in my Highlander w/ the stock JBL amp and love them, they play nice with Toyotas it seems (ohm rating and fitment in door etc). W/ Mark Levinson you're pretty SOL the system uses 8 ohm speakers and about anything you try with them sounds off.
The best thing to do is just rip out all the factory stuff and start from scratch, but that does take time and cash. The JBL speakers are tuned well for the stock equipment, are a clear upgrade over the stock Pioneer plastic speakers, and are cheap from the junkyard.
