I asked a question a few days ago and maybe it got bogged down with the details so I'll change the question.
1) Were all 2nd gen RXs sold with HID headlights?
2) What is the beam pattern (if you turn it on outside your garage or a wall for example), is it flat or is there a big rise on one side or the other? Photos would be awesome
1. No, only premium or hybrid packages. But all HID equipped RX's came with AFS as far as I know.
2. Typical projector style cutoff (not to be confused with halogen reflector). Best I can describe it as is two stretched Z's next to each other, don't have any pics at the moment.
Is there a quick way to tell if a car has HIDs other than asking the owner to do above? I noted on UK autotrader the car descriptions do not include this information. Or any visual way to spot the difference looking at photos of the headlights?
If you look at the headlight, you will see an "eyeball" (glass lens) where the low beam is. Usually will only come on cars with 5 spoke 18" wheels, whether premium package or hybrid. If you see a 6 spoke 17" wheel, then it will (typically) have a reflector instead of the eyeball in the low beam area.

Here is mine with HID AFS:
What bulb did you place into High beam? Does it still work as DRL?

That pic you're seeing is an LED in the running light (not DRL), type 194. I do have LEDs in the high beams but they do not work with the DRL, I have permanently disabled DRLs on the BECU.
Thanks again, and I am guessing the switch on the dash or console would be labelled AFS?
yes; the switch is located near the "lower panel" just to the left or so about where your left leg for most people would be. it will say afs off on it. I know this cause my 07 350 has the hid afs lights.
