Just because they don't receive claims from customers. Need to refile oil between services? You have to repair your engine (because of age or because of bad engineering)

What is this? Engine repair is not cheap. So, use oil from well-known brands only.

I recently switched to Mobil 1 super 1000 non-synthetic oil. I have to say, off the bat, the car ran much smoother and consumption has reduced quite a bit. It seems to be a hard oil to find.

What's better... Amsoil, Royal Purple, or Mobil 1 and why?

And for the AWD trans Max life, OEM, or other?

Lastly how often should I change my oil? Every 3k, 5k, or 7500 miles?

For a DD rx, I'd use M1 0/40 about every 3K w/ a Wix,K&N or M1 filter, Maxlife trans fluid/Wix about every 30K as well as 2 qtrs of RR 75/90, for the diff & transfer case. For you or others, that'd depend on your driving & how far. Some ppl like to go farther on changing the oil/filter.

Well for me, i stick with 5w-30. Today i decided to switch over to High Milage oil. I went with the Canadian Tire brand (made by Shell). It's not a bad oil. I'm religious with my oil changes and usually change at 5-6000km max. I often go with wix or napa gold filter. Today i went with a fram ultra guard filter (i was stuck).
for tranny i used maxlife oil. For the transfer case and rear diff i go with 75/90 synthetic oil. These 3 i change at 60 000km.

I recently switched to M1 0W40 engine oil (Lotus Exige, Evora, Emira - 2GR spec) on my RX and it has been working very well for me. It didn't solve my cold start rattle, but it did reduce its length, and the "piston slap" noise that is common on 2GRs when cold is now basically absent. It seems to flow extremely well when the engine is cold. Not a hair over 8000 km / 5000 mile changes for me.

I run Toyota WS in the trans with a wix filter, and Redline 75W90 in the front transfer case and rear diff. I use Dexron VI synthetic transmission fluid in the PS system (From Canadian Tire), that's discontinued though now, so next flush it's getting Maxlife.
