2007 RX350 back hatch won't open with automatic button

I have a 2007 RX350 Lexus and the back hatch will not open with the automatic button and even when the hatch is closed the dash says it's open.

The dealer said there is a computer chip in the back that might need to be replaced, but was very vague as to what the part actually was.

Have anyone heard of this issue before and know of a fix for it?

No, I haven't heard that one before, but then I'm new to these vehicles....So possibly someone else will chime in. btw neither the key button or the interior switch doesn't work?

there is a "valet" switch in the glove box on the left side; make sure that button is not pressed in as that will not allow the door to operate if its pushed in.

You have to solve this problem first. Probably, the problem in the topic title will go also.

Very good. Which is why I'm posting here to get some help if anyone knows of what would be causing this....

There is a lot to the trunk closer system.
If you need more let me know.

the sensor that tells the system the lid is closed is not working/out of adjustment to give the open indication when it is closed.
this sensor may be the power back door touch sensor.

This comment is wrong, it's exactly opposite. The door will not work if the switch is OUT. It will only work if the switch is pushed IN.
