Default Problem with putting back steering column after removal.

My neighbor approached me today about helping him put back the steering column on his 04 rx-330. He tells me he hired someone to replace his ignition switch cause it had broken, whoever he hired ended up taking off the steering column in order to replace the switch. The guy asked for money to go get “a part” and never went back, so here I am trying to help him out. I don’t have much experience with lexus but giving this a shot.

i was able to install the new ignition switch, car starts as it should. My problem is when I try to install the steering column back into its place the shaft joint and the steering intermediate shaft sub assembly are about 1 1/2 inch apart. My neighbor tells me there are no missing parts, that everything was put into a box.

I’ve done plenty of column replacements on Hondas but with this rx I’m stuck without a clue where I’m coming short from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
