Key Fob Shell Replacement

2008 RX350

Well now my 2nd main key's outer case has broken. Looking to replace the outer shell only and move the OEM key and electronics package over. My prior attempt at replacement did not fit. So I guess I'm going exclude any solution that comes with a blank key that needs cutting since that case will most likely not accept the OEM key.

I did see this one in another post and I guess that will be fine. Is there any that is more original in shape?

BTW, is the RFID security chip in the electronics package? One assumes so but better to make sure. The concierge key of course has a chip but no remote electronics package. And the emergency wallet key puts the chip in the holder.

For the replacement shell, I personally would go with this one:

The RFID chip is in the plastic pod with the buttons.

Can't do better than OEM. Thanks!

Bought a “flip key” off eBay. You take a picture of you’re key blade (sketchy to some I know) and they send it to you pre cut within 2 days. I think it was like $20 and all I had to do was transfer over the transponder from the old key. No need to go to a locksmith or anything

Got a link to the one you bought? How is the feel and overall quality?

Quality is that of other OEM switchlade keys I've had in the past

I just replaced the shell for my 2007 with ones from amazon. I had to cut the key out of the damaged shell but it works fine. 2 replacement shells were less than $15. Took me about 10 min. maybe.

Unfortunately, the eBay seller linked by Dennis above is only selling back halves. Which might explain why full OEM cases are being offered, USED, for around $70.

Here is who I used. I had my key code. It worked perfectly.

That is my bad, I did not read the description carefully.

I found this one that will do the job -

I've actually bought a shell from that seller on Amazon before and can vouch that it works perfectly.
