Does a weak battery cause my ABS, VSC, Brake and AFS lights to come on?
Hi a few days ago when I started my 07 rx350 awd in the morning my abs VSC brake and AFS lights all came on. I took it to the shop by my work but I have to wait a week for their availability. During this week I noticed my battery was weak, so I went ahead and put in a new battery. A day later all the lights turned off.
Has this ever happened to anybody? Why would a weak battery cause those lights to come on? also do I still need to take it to the shop or do you think the battery was really the problem? Thanks! |
Yes, weak battery causes lots of warnings and temporary problems on modern cars, I would consider it fixed if they don't come back. You could go to Autozone and clear the internal codes with a scanner before your next inspection, but I wouldn't bother.

Good to know. Thanks!

Same thing happens to my wife's RX350 every time the battery needs replaced. We rarely get 3 years out of one anymore.

I notice that, all the newer cars need battery replacement much sooner. Probably due to all the electronics in the car. Glad I don't have to spend money to fix that!

Good to know. Thanks everyone.
