2008 RX350 Check engine light on and VSC flashes
008 RX350 Check engine light on and VSC flashes. The code is P00031. Dealer asked 700$ to replace the sensor. Crazy price. Can I buy the sensor from the dealer?

The code is for the oxygen sensor. You can search for Lexus trouble code P00031 using Google, and find out the repair cost in your area using RepairPal. However, you better double check the trouble codes at a independent mechanic shop. They can run diagnostic and find out if that's the only problem that needs to be fixed. Lexus dealship doesn't necessary tell you all that's wrong with your car. Sometime they missed problems too. Last time I had Check Engine light, the dealership replaced my exhaust manifold(Big Bucks) and a rusted hole in my tail pipe, but missed a big rip in the intake air hose. My Check Engine light went off again in a week, and my local mechanic find the problem right away.

I would recommend changing the sensor yourself or finding an indy mechanic to replace the sensors. $700 sounds steep for O2 sensor replacement - you can probably get lower quote from experience mechanic who works on Toyotas.

I am having a similar issue with my 07 RX350. CEL and VSC light came on yesterday, then the CEL started flashing going up a hill and the car was sluggish. This morning, I started the car and both lights were on. I got the diagnostic code of P0354 which is the ignition coil D. However, just after leaving the garage with the code, the lights went out completely. Is it possible that something was clogged or stuck in the system and it passed through and is now good?
Getting ready to head home from vacation so wondering at this point if I can just monitor and see if lights come back on before doing anything. Any one else have this happen?
