2007 Lexus RX 350 AWD Front Strut Replacement
#46
Just following up on my previous review…
I replaced my rear struts with FCS quick strut assemblies just over 4 years and 70k miles ago. Overall I’m still happy with them but they are starting to show their age in the ride quality. They’re not bad, just not as good as they used to be. Considering the OEMs were completely done by 65k miles, I have no complaints and will replace with the FCS units again when the time comes.

Hello,
I'm currently looking to replace my front and rear struts/shocks on my 2004 RX330 FWD. It seems like FCS is a recommended quick strut solutions to my needs. However, I also found quick strut assemblies from Detroite Axle that included inner/outer tie rods and sway bar end link. Does anyone have any experience with these?

UKSPARKY, That's a good plan, I like Monroe and KYB, I just went with the Monroe Quik Struts for the rear, but I am saving the springs and rebuilding them, the Lexus springs are superior to aftermarket springs and some of people's complaints about using Quik Struts is they will say Monroe, KYB,etc. are not any good, they don't realize that it's the low quality Springs that came with the quick Struts, I installed Bilstien 5100"s on the front of my 2001 Tundra, reused the springs, it drives and handles great 👍🏻

so I've had my FCS struts now about 3 years...they're still good. I did try to find Discount Auto Parts but I cannot anymore; there has been so much consolidation. Keep in mind I got the struts with the springs...I think they're called Easy Struts. I would but FCS again but I'd be perfectly happy with KYB as well and I see they now make the complete strut assembly with the springs et al. I wouldn't go with Lexus...way over priced for the OEM.

I'm going to jump in with my 2 cents as well. My 2009 AWD CDN Built RX has just hit 382,432 km or 239,173 miles. I sold RX's for Lexus from 2006 through 2014. I bought mine used, "As Is" uncertified, without hesitation off a Toyota Dealer I knew, with just about 245,000km or 153,000 miles. We use a lot of salt on the roads here in winter, which is hard on brakes and underbodies... A month ago I swerved hard but still hit some sliding, tumbling metal debris thrown up by a Prius in front of me on the hiway and then went off onto the shoulder...hard. Among the obvious underbody issues was a driver's side stabilizer link mount which sheared clean off the strut. The insurance company coughed up for new struts and wheel bearings along with alignment, engine undercover, oil pan, etc. Due to high mileage, new Lexus parts were subbed where possible. I requested and got the Excel G's from KYB, rather than the NAPA house brand. The RX Rides like a new vehicle again and I love it. Tight, quiet, great cornering, no sway on ramps. Rear shocks as far as I know, remain original. I have also done a full suspension swap prior with complete struts and springs on my 2005 Highlander which is now rolling past 540,000km- 337,000miles. I now have a left rear wheel bearing hub to do on the RX, out of pocket and want to go SKF for best warranty. If any of you who have done struts or brakes have any feedback on durability of replacement hubs for hiway driving, please let me know. Lexus and Toyotas will run well past 250,000 miles with basic proper maintenance. I am now approaching 1.5 M total miles in Toyotas over 43 years of driving. Ride safe and don't underestimate the lifespan of your RX's.
